After coming so close to winning last season, the Lake Region trio of Olivia King, Celeste Lussier and Rebecca Doucet were able to climb the mountain, as they shot a 201 to edge out Rice by six strokes and bring home the Division II State Title.
"It's very satisfying to win after being the runner-up last year," said senior Celeste Lussier. "We had the 'State Champ' mentality all year, and finally all the hard work paid off."
Another thing that paid off was playing a tougher Metro Division schedule this season, which gave the Lady Rangers much tougher competition than in previous years.
King was tops on the team, shooting 97 for the day. Lussier was behind her with a 104, and Doucet came in with a 135.
Madison Myers' 84 for Rice was good enough to make her the medalist.
