Lake Region Girls' Soccer Coach Brad Urie Suspended
ORLEANS-Brad Urie, the head coach of Lake Region’s girls' varsity soccer team, has been suspended and will not be on the sideline for Saturday October 20th's season finale against Hazen.Urie, in his sixth year with the program, had coached the team to a 10-3 record thus far.The Rangers are the third ranked team in Division Two and have a senior day prepared prior to their contest with the Wildcats. According to LRUHS Athletic Director Eric Degre, ”Coach Urie will not be on the sideline Saturday. He is not fired. This is a personnel decision and I cannot say anymore at this time.” Degre, who will fill in as interim coach for the time being, ran practice Thursday night, will again on Friday and is expected to be on the sideline for Saturday’s contest. According to sources, a meeting with 'a parent or parents of a player or players' on the roster and Degree was held on Wednesday evening following the Lady Rangers' 2-1 loss to BFA-Fairfax. The cause for the meeting was that said parent or parents expressed problems with Urie's coaching style and post-game comments to the team.The Express reached out to Urie for a comment, but the coach was unavailable.We will update you on any further developments as they become available.
