LOWELL – The final wind turbine in the Lowell Mountain wind project called Kingdom Community Wind is fully assembled. Now 21 wind turbines that are about 450 feet tall each span across three miles of ridge line on Lowell Mountain.
Construction employees worked into the night Wednesday to finish the final turbine. Reed and Reed raised the American flag with their crane once it was assembled.
The crane is coming down but much more work is needed to get the project fully on-line. Technical electrical work is on-going. Green Mountain Power (GMP), the company building the project, expected some minor issues and is working through the bugs that are coming up, said Dorothy Schnure, spokesperson for GMP. The project is on schedule to be fully online before the end of the year, Schnure said.
