Let the craziness begin

NEWPORT, VT - Road barriers and signs warning that the Long Bridge is closed are in place and work is ready to begin. This will be the scene for the next 19-months as state contracted crews replace the bridge.
Just wait until the paving begins on Main Street! The state will spend the summer paving US 5, right through Newport and up towards Derby.
In the meantime, traffic is being rerouted through the Interstate 91 access road and down US 5 (East Main Street).
Traffic is already beginning to get backed up.
