Lake Region 4, Oxbow 1
BRADFORD - Billy Cashin provided the eventual go-ahead score on a unassisted tally 10 minutes into the second half as the Lake Region boys soccer team knocked off Oxbow 4-1 in a wet Saturday contest to put a damper on the host team's homecoming weekend.
Shaquille Urie gave the Rangers a 1-0 halftime lead with an early score on a pass from Anthony Wright.
Cashin scored early in the second, followed minutes later by a goal from Bryan Mosher via a Harry Fromm assist. Josh Thibault sealed the victory with a fourth goal with 10 minutes remaining in regulation.
Dennis Newland saw action in both halves for Lake Region, who moves to 6-2 on the year. The Rangers beat Oxbow earlier this season at home, 1-0.
Junior varsity: Five players scored as the Lake Region JV squad knocked off Oxbow, 5-0. Kolby George, Austin Roberge, Bryant Prue, Ian Strange and Noah Racine tallied for the Rangers as freshman Danny Epinette earned his fifth straight shutout.
North Country 3, Thetford 1
THETFORDâ€“Crystal Moss had a pair of goals late in the game to lead the Falcons over Thetford Academy late last week.
The Falcons were playing catch-up early, as the host team put one in just three and a half minutes into the game.
Devinnie Davis tied the game for North Country with seven minutes left in the first on a pass from Hollie Smith.
Things changed for the better for the Falcons five minutes into the second as their play began to improve.
"Their were a ton of chances for a lot of our kids," coach Peter Alexander said.
It looked like it could go into extra time, but Moss delivered her first goal with three and a half minutes left to play in regulation on a feed from Anna Bingham.
Her second tally came two minutes later.
Jenna Moss had 5 saves for the Falcons (5-3) while the Thetford (4-3) keeper had 15.
North Country will host Randolph on Wednesday at 4:00
Lake Region , Richford 0
RICHFORDâ€“Tyrah Urie had a pair of goals to move into sole possession of second place on the Ranger girls scoring list as Lake Region shut-out Richford last Thursday.
Drew Neal had the other tally for the Lady Rangers.
The win moves Lake Region to 7-2 while Richford drops to 4-3.
Next up for Lake Region is a road match with Hazen on Wednesday at 4:00.
MORRISVILEâ€“Lake Region's track team competed at the Peoples Academy meet on Saturday afternoon.
Unfortunately for the Rangers, the race officials decided to start the meet a little early, leaving the blue and white little time to prepare.
Emily Close came in 4th with a time of 21:06, a personal record for the course.
Haley Kennedy had a 22:04 time for 8th and Emily Millar had a course PR of 24:32. Elise Morissette ran a 26:25.
Cody Dollof had a PR and broke the sub 20 barrier with a 19:56 time and freshman Ryan Streeter finished in 25:06 while experiencing Peoplesâ€™ new course.
The team will be back at Peoples on Tuesday for another meet.
Riverside Speedway owner CJ Robinson was rushed to the hospital this week, and underwent a surgical procedure which will take him out of commission for the next few days.Â
According to son Curtis Robinson, his father is doing well and will be out of the hospital soon.Â "He'll probably bounce back better than ever!" says the younger Robinson.Â
