DERBY – Just about one year ago, Mary Ann Tetreault defeated former Derby Town Clerk and Treasurer Nicole Daigle in a bid for the delinquent tax collector position. And the year has gone pretty good for Tetreault, she said in a recent interview.
Delinquent tax collectors earn their pay from an eight percent penalty collected from late taxpayers. Tetreault promised to give half of what she collected to Derby organizations. The position brought in $24,220, of which more than half at $12,275, was donated to the Dailey and Haskell Libraries, Derby Fire Department, the Derby Line Ambulance, the historical society, the junior high garden club, the Derby Dog Park, Derby Line Community Day, and Green Mountain United Way.
For more about Mary Ann Tetreault, read Wednesday's edition of the Newport Daily Express for Feb. 6, 2013.
