NEWPORT CITY – Over the past few years, Mayor Paul Monette has been in the forefront of developing his beloved Newport and the surrounding area.
Monette, who has been mayor since 2009, is seeking to retain his seat on Town Meeting Day next month. He is running unopposed.
Before becoming mayor, Monette was a member of the Newport City Council. Monette said he is running for mayor again because "The job is not done.... More needs to be done as far as development in the city. I want to see all of the positive changes actually happen.”
