ST. ALBANS–Weather was not a factor for the North Country boys' tennis team as they were indoors at the Collins-Pearly Complex to take on the Bobwhites this past Monday.
The Falcons spotted BFA a 1-0 advantage, forfeiting the number two doubles match, but would allow only one more win the rest of the way as they defeated the Academy 5-2.
Coach Gary Atchinson shook up the lineups, and the new order produced the desired results.
Back at the number one slot, Dave Durivage got off to a slow start, getting down 1-4 to Sam Costes.
But then he found his groove and won 12 of the next thirteen games coming away with the 7-5, 6-0 win.
Spencer Beattie took the first set from Travers Parsons-Grayson, but TPG fought back, using his big forehand to take the second set 6-2. He got up 7-3 in the tie breaker, but due to what the coach called "unfortunate circumstance," lost 10-8.
Thomas Durivage and Zach Tweed both won in straight sets, using a strong net game to gain the edge against their opponents.
Moaz Knight needed a 10-8 tie breaker victory to earn the "W" over Thomas Allerton. The number one doubles team of Kody Halikas and Fred Petzoldt played a very athletic match defeating Max Costes and Logan Heald 6-3, 6-4.
The boys will play host to Montpelier today at
