Orleans Country Club Hosts Ladies Summer Medley

Shooting a score of 76 were the teams of Marcy Mastin and Kim Haley of Orleans Country Club and Barb Shiffler and Carla Desnoyers of Williston and Champlain. Horace Archer, PGA pro on Thursday, July 21st at Orleans Country Club, declared the two teams co-winners of the tournament. The event was the Ladies Invitational Summer Medley, which attracted golfers from this area and other parts of Vermont. The format consisted of six holes each of Best Ball, Scramble, and Scotch Ball. Net winners were Irene Farrar and Judy Martel of Orleans coming in with a 60.
Second gross were Carol Troup and Sandy Corrigan of Orleans with an 83. The remaining net results were as follows, Helene Poulin of Rocky Ridge and Corinne Maietta of Burlington-61, Linda Johnson and Betty Larsen of Orleans-61.
Sandy Corrigan, Corinne Maietta and Betty Larsen won the “Fairway Drive Drawings”. Sandra Corrigan, Judy Martel and Linda Johnson won the “On the Green Drawings”. Kim Haley, Judy Tinker and Judy Hoyt won the “Medley Luck Drawings”. Following the competition was a delicious luncheon prepared by the Orleans Country Club Restaurant and Lounge. Lunch featured a fabulous cream of mushroom soup, a make your own chef salad with many delectable fixings and strawberry shortcake. Chef Travis Casey and the "Bear" Birchard were highly praised for this tasty meal on a very HOT day. The Medley of Miss Hits Survival Kit was a big hit, adding to all the fun. Favors were a medley golf coffee mug, with a golf angel and tea. Chairwomen for the tournament were Judy Tinker, Judy Hoyt, and Irene Farrar.
