Despite a disappointing first day on a cool, damp Wednesday, the Orleans County Fair Association is optimistic about the rest of the weekend.
Tom Martin, the vice-president of the fair association, said the fair was a couple of thousand people off for opening day, but by mid-day Thursday attendance was ahead of a typical second day.
Franklin County native Keeghan Nolan, a newly signed Nashville recording artist, will be the headliner on the stage Saturday night following opening act Cody Mabe.
Saturday is Military Day, when members of the military will be admitted free of charge. World War II veterans will also enjoy free admittance.
The fair closes Sunday with the ever-popular demolition derby.
