DERBY - Jim Mulkin, under the name JM & MM Properties LLC, is in the process of buying the Village Pizza building from Erik Lawson.
Plans submitted to Derby include tearing down the building and constructing a new, larger place, which would include space for Village Pizza and a handful of other spaces for retail businesses.
The proposed building is 12,000 square feet with an estimated cost of $875,000. Plans call for a completion date of fall 2012.
Mulkin submitted the plans to the town but there are some right-a-way issues with adjacent land owner Dr. Durward Starr that need to be resolved.
Derby Zoning Administrator Bob Kelley said that Starr does not have a problem with the plans, but he is out of town and has been unable to participate in the permit process so far.
