NEWPORT, VT - The "Art Post: Positive Images of Support by Our Vermont Art Students," has opened at the MAC Center for the Arts, Newport, with almost 1,500 postcards created by students in the North Country School District.
Students enrolled in art classes in all of our districts schools, kindergarten through 12 (Brighton, Morgan, Charleston, Derby, Newport Town, Newport City, Jay-Westfield, Troy, North Country Union senior and junior high schools, North Country Career Center, Coventry, United Christian Academy and the district’s homeschoolers) were asked to create a postcard-sized work of art focused around the central theme of “positive artistic messages” of thanks and appreciation to our service personnel overseas. We were thrilled with response and the unique diversity of the chosen subject matter.
We invite you to visit the great exhibit and take this opportunity to celebrate the arts and “stroll among the cards,” reflecting on the freedoms we have in this country to exercise our talents and pursue our dreams.
The exhibit is open Monday and Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the MAC Center, 158 Main Street, Newport.
