Five members of the NEK Pythons went to the New England Youth Wrestling Championship at the Nashua high school in Nashua, NH this past Saturday.
Codey Lamere had the best day out of the five, finishing second in the 89 lbs. weight class.
Jacob Sylvester also had a nice afternoon, placing third in the 84 lbs. weight division.
Josh Roberts, Logan Gerrow, and Logan Sylvester all wrestled well in their two matches, but were all eliminated in the third round.
While these five were over in the Granite State, the rest of the team went to Mount Mansfield Tournament in Jericho.
Second year wrestler Jesse Gerrow had a wonderful afternoon, taking home first place. Gerros defeated all four of his opponents by pin in the first period. Those close with the program agree that Jesse is doing amazing things in his second year.
Gerrow was joined at the tournament by a bevy of newcomers, all in their first year with the program.
Here is how the rest of the rookies did at the tournament.
Manny St. Marie and Tate Swanson each took second place, while Nuri Maher and Tyler Wilson were in third.
The other three wrestlers, Derek Guillette, Jonathan Hunt, and Lahna Descheneau all placed fourth.
The kids all did an awesome job and the coaches are really proud of them and how hard they fought.
The Pythons will be back in competition tomorrow when they head to Milton for another tournament.
