ORLEANS-The Lake Region Rangers played host to the Mount Abraham Eagles in the opening round of the Division II play-offs on Tuesday, and armed with will and determination, they rallied back from a 3-2, 7th inning hole to win with a walk-off double by Matt Messier.
"I was happy to pull it out,” said LR coach Eric Degre. "I am glad the boys didn't give up. We could have easily just folded over.”
Said Messier about his approach when at the dish, "I figured he would throw a curveball first pitch, and then sat on the fastball second pitch. He pretty much had the same pattern the whole game and I knew he was throwing me a fastball second pitch, and I was so geared up for it I was out in front, but thank God it got into the wind and went over his head."
