Rangers Steamroll Falcons 64-13

ORLEANS—When the Richford Falcons traveled to Lake Region Wednesday, the game was over before the ball was even tipped. The Rangers were able to dominate offensively and defensively en-route to a 51 point 64-13 victory.Darik Messier started the game on a personal 4-0 run, and the blue and white were on top 12-0 before the Falcons got their first point with 3 minutes left in the first. Marquel Webster would add a turn-around jumper as time expired to put Lake Region on top 14-3 at the end of 1 period of play.Things kept clicking for the Rangers in the 2nd period. A Caleb Royer put back off of a Drew Gallup missed free throw pushed the lead to 20 at 23-3, 3 minutes into the 2nd; a gap that quickly grew to 30 after a pair of Tony Stuart free throws, sending the team to the break with a lead of 38-7. Lake Region’s defense was simply brilliant during the contest. They held the Rockets scoreless for the first 6 minutes of the 2nd period.James Margolla kept the offensive onslaught going as his and-1 pushed the lead to 40 points into the 3rd quarter. The teams would trade basket-for-basket during the period and LR would go to the final quarter up 53-12.While it is hard to keep the intensity level high during a blowout, the blue and white of Lake Region were still able run their sets and go through their plays. And when it was all set and done, they were able to walk away, easily, with a 64-13 victory. After the contest Coach James Ingalls seemed pleased with the outcome.“In a game like this it is hard to keep the intensity at its highest level, but I am proud of the guys. They played until the final whistle and they got the job done.”When asked about the rough start to the season and the outlook for the 2nd half coach Ingalls added, “Down the stretch I see a lot of good things. When it comes down to it, we are not going to be the best seed and we will probably be on the road, but I feel confident, even in Division 2, that we can go in there and knock off a top seed.”Brett McAlister led the Falcons team with 4 points, while Jeremy Doe and Jeremy Franklin each had 3.The Rangers had 3 players reach double-digits led by Marquel Webster’s game-high 12 points. Seth Lawson chipped in with 11 and James Margolla added 10.After dropping 8 in a row the Rangers have won 2 straight to run their season record to (3-8). They will look to keep the win streak alive tonight when they play host to the Danville Indians. JV kicks off the action with a 5:30 start, with Varsity to follow with a 7:00 tip.
