DANVILLE—When Lake Region traveled to Danville Monday night, they were looking for a way to knock off the Indians and run their win streak to 3. After a close first half that found the Rangers winning by only 9, they were able to pull away in the 2nd half to a convincing 24 point win.
Caylin Gallup gave the Lady Rangers their first lead of the contest, when she connected on a long 3 to put LR on top 9-6 at the end of 1.
Drew Neal extended the lead to 9 for the blue and white at the half when she received a nice no-look pass from Gallup and buried it to run the score to 20-11.
Lake Region blew the game open in the 3rd by outscoring the Indians 12-5, to stretch the lead into double-digits at 32-17, with one quarter to go.
Autumn Beaton, who had not seen the hardwood for the Lady Rangers in 5 games, entered the contest with 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, much to the delight of the Ranger faithful that made the trip to Danville, and quickly scored 2 points, sending the crowd into frenzy. Kylie Atwood would knock down a 3 with 1 minute left in regulation to push the score to its final standing point of 45-21.
“We did some good things out there, but we have to do more of the good things,” coach Mark Tinker said after the contest. “We have spells where we do good things out there and then there is times when we just react.”
He would later add that, “We are still working and I give testament to the girls for going out there and getting the job done when things are not going the greatest.”
Lake Region’s scoring was highlighted by Drew Neal with 14 and Caylin Gallup with 11.
Danville was led by Pam Greaves who chipped in with 9.
Due to exam week at the high school, the Lady Rangers will be off until Saturday when they travel to Windsor High school to take on the Burr and Burton Bulldogs. Game time is set for 3:30.
The Lake Region JV Girls used pressure defense to force 13 turnovers converting them into a 22-1 scoring margin for the quarter en route to an easy victory over Danville on Monday night. Tyrah Urie led 11 Rangers on the scoreboard with 14 points. Rachelle Cotnoir added 8 and Emily Lawson 7. With the victory the Rangers extend their season record to 6-0 and take a break for exams before a clash with Division I Burr and Burton on Saturday afternoon in Windsor.

COLCHESTER–The North Country girls ended up on the wrong side of a 42-33 score against Colchester Monday night.
They were outscored in each quarter, and had the lead just once in the game, and that was for a brief stint in the third.
“We did not run our offense,” said coach Brown, “The simply out played us.”
A spark for the team was Desiree Coffin off the bench, who scored 13 points and had 5 boards. Noelle Pinard had 7 rebounds, Michaela Stanley had 6, and Anna Bingham and Emma Joslin each had 8 pts.
Now the team will get ready for their game against Spaulding at home this Saturday at 2:30.
