NEWPORT, VT - Mark Saturday as the day Santa comes to Newport.
Santa and his friends will be hosted by the city as part of the Magic on Main event. The city recreation department and the Renaissance Corporation have lined up wagon rides, shopping fun, activities and even real reindeer. (At least I think they're real.)
Main Street will be closed to traffic, so be prepared to park in the Hebard lot or other areas around town. Businesses will be open.
The Memphremagog Arts Collaborative gallery will hold a holiday ornament making class for kids 8-12 from 1-3 PM. All materials and tools will be supplied. Only 32 people can participate due to space, so register in advance by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 673-8808 by Wednesday, Dec. 12. A donation would be appreciated.
John Stevens, known for his high adventures, fantastic photography and skilled storytelling, will be signing his latest book, "More Woodshed Wisdom" at the MAC from 4-6 PM. Come to see John or just enjoy the cider.
In the meantime, kids are invited to a free movie at 2:30 at the Waterfront Plaza. Parents are also invited for a fee.
From 4-6, the search is on for Santa Claus. Where could he be hiding?
This Saturday, Magic comes to Newport's Main Street.
