FRISCO, TX–The Vermont Shamrocks opened up the Tier II U-16 Girls’ National Championship Tournament with a tough 6-4 loss to the Chicago Bruins.
With members of the team arriving just hours before game time, it is understandable that they may not have had their legs ready for the 7:00 am start time.
The Bruins came out strong, scoring three goals in the first ten minutes, but the Shamrocks got their legs going, and tied the game up at three.
The teams traded goals, moving the score to 4-4, but penalties were Vermont's undoing, and Chicago was able to net two power-play goals in the third to pick up the win.
Despite the loss, the team is feeling good and will look to right the ship today when they take on Michigan at 9:00 am.
If the team can win their next two games, they will advance to the semi-finals, control ling their own destiny from there
