NEWPORT – The Orleans County Sheriff's Department filed suit against Roger Pion and his parents for damage sustained when Roger destroyed the sheriff’s  department’s property.
Roger Pion, 34, is accused of using his parents red Case MX255 tractor to drive through town to the sheriff’s department parking area on the Derby Road and drove over the top of seven vehicles, crushing and destroying the cruisers, a van and equipment inside.
Pion then left the scene in the tractor, with deputies pursuing by foot and in commandeered vehicles. Pion was subsequently stopped on the Causeway in Newport and ordered off the tractor at gun point by law enforcement officers.
After a number of hearings, Pion was found incompetent to stand trial by a judge and hospitalized. The criminal case was not dismissed.
