ST. JOHNSBURY–North Country's Riley Simoneau took home the state championship in the 220 lb. division, defeating St. Johnsbury's Kevin Santora for the win.
After being tied 2-2 in the final period, a last minute pin secured the win, the first wrestling title to go on the wall at the Falcon gymnasium since the mid-nineties.
Individually Simoneau was 7-1 on the season, and as for the rest of the Falcons, in their first year back as a varsity sport, they finished seventh out of the twenty-one teams at the competition.
