NEWPORT–Martha Petzoldt was the lone Falcon to pick up a win on Tuesday as the North Country girls tennis team fell to Montpelier 6-1.
Petzoldt had been struggling a bit, but Coach Marie George was pleased with the way she battled against the Solons.
"She really came back, she hadn't played well, but (against Montpelier) it was like the old Martha was back."
George said her captain was able to make adjustments in her game that forced her opponent to play to her strengths.
Petzoldt will be headed to Stowe later this week to compete in the individual state tournament, where she will be squaring off against an undetermined opponent from South Burlington.
