NEWPORT– The Falcon field hockey girls, despite not playing at their best, should have picked up an easy win over the Solons of Montpelier. Instead, they were unable to to get their offense going and fell by the score of 1-0.
"I thought this wasn't our game, honestly I am at a lost for words," said Coach Bouchard after the game.
The Falcons clearly were the better team on the field, and that is even with all the errors that they made, but it was the little things that bothered the coach so much.
"Moving our feet, moving the ball around a player instead of sticking our stick into theirs. We had a lot of hacking and a lot of foot (contact), and we had a lot of obstructions."
With NC not running at one-hundred percent, the Solons still could only manage to score one goal, that coming off the stick of Jaye Grundy with 11:33 left in the first half.
Falcon netminder Danielle Gabucci had six saves while the players in front of her put seven shots on the Montpelier net.
The Falcons will hit the practice field today in order to get ready for Tuesday's 4:00 showdown with Rice where they will look to go 2-1 on the homestand.
