South Burlington Tops North Country 7-4

April 26, 2011

Tom Blake turned in a fine performance on Monday, allowing just four earned runs.

NEWPORT– Despite out hitting the Rebels of South Burlington 13-5, the North Country baseball Falcons dropped a tough game on Monday 7-4.
Brian Bonvechio's crew got great pitching from Tom Blake, who went six plus innings, giving up five hits and four earned runs.
The Falcons bats were also sharp in their home opener. Taylor Miller went 3-4 and Nate Stewart was 2-4 with a clutch two run double that plated, at the time, the go ahead runs that put North Country up 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth.
Unfortunately, South Burlington's Tyler Ward was also strong at the plate, tying the game in the top of the fifth with a two run bomb, and then hitting a double in the seventh that pushed two more runs across the plate to put the Rebels up for good.
