NEWPORT CITY – Retailers who have a presence at the Waterfront Plaza will have a place to call home until at least January 2016.
Tony Pomerleau, property owner and Burlington developer, and Bill Stenger, president and co-owner of Jay Peak Resort, have been in talks about entering a buy-sell agreement for several years. The plan is to raze the structures on the property and build a new convention center and hotel with suites, restaurants, and retail stores.
Wednesday Pomerleau confirmed that Stenger recently gave him a "good will check." The check, at least in Pomerleau's eyes, means that Stenger is serious about purchasing the property.
