BARTON - Looking for something to do on Thanksgiving morning before the relatives show up for the big meal and an afternoon of watching football? Then make your way to the center of Barton for the annual Turkey Trot.
The event, like every year, starts at 9 a.m. Registration is at 8 a.m.
The Turkey Trot started 12 years ago to benefit travel expenses for Missy White and her family. White, who died in 2002, had cystic fibrosis and required a double lung transplant. Now the proceeds benefit the 98 Miles Foundation, which was the distance from White’s Barton home to Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, where she received frequent medical treatment.
Robin Robitaille who organizes the event with his wife Gail said the event was so successful in its first year that many people asked them to have it again and now it’s an annual event.
