JOHNSON â€“ Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) is seeking a rate increase for the new year. In Mid-November VEC made the request for a 2.93 percent increase in rates with the Public Service Board (PSB). The request is currently under review, and comments are being accepted. This is the first hike the co-op has sought in three years.
â€śWhile virtually all aspects of todayâ€™s cost of living continue to rise, weâ€™ve controlled costs by improving the efficiency of our operations, leveraging technology, and seeking outside funding support from sources including â€śstimulusâ€ť funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, FEMA disaster relief, and an EDA grant award, CEO of VEC Dave Hallquist said in a statement.
