By STEVE BLAKE Managing Editor BURLINGTON — The second of four Orleans County men indicted in Federal Court for conspiring to smuggle and distribute marijuana over a several year period was sentenced Monday to serve 21 months in prison.
Dustin Craig, 31, of Holland will be subject to four years of
supervised release when he finishes his prison term. He will begin
serving his sentence August 4.
Leonard Brien of Derby was sentenced to serve three months for his part in the conspiracy. His sentence begins July 28.
Brien, Craig, Burton Jacobs Jr., of Derby Line, and Randy Blake of
North Troy pled innocent to the charges a year ago. Jacobs changed his
plea to guilty on January 7. The others pled guilty on February 27.
A press release from the U.S. attorney’s office says Craig was
responsible for distributing between 1,000 and 3,000 kilograms of
marijuana over a period of three to four years.
Jacobs and Blake are scheduled to be sentenced on July 13. Jacobs
remains free pending sentencing. Blake is in state custody on charges
of conspiring to burn his own house to collect insurance money.
