By CHRISTOPHER ROY Express Staff Writer DERBY — For the second time in as many months, a Derby convenience store experienced a burglary. According to State Police Sgt. Darren Annis and Senior Trooper Clark Lombardi, at 2:38 a.m. on Dec. 26 state police responded to an alarm at the Derby Corner Mini Mart. When police arrived, they found someone had smashed open a side window, entered the store, stolen packs of cigarettes, and left before police arrived. When contacted last week, store owner Mabil Ibrahim, said whomever broke into his store through the large plate glass window made a mess on the floor before leaving with a large amount of cigarettes, cigars, and lighters. I
brahim said police were notified of the break-in by his alarm system.
He also said it was the same type of break-in scenario Ibrahim
experienced in November and he feels it was the same suspects both
times. Now Ibrahim is adding more features to his security system.
“We keep spending more money and hopefully they will be caught,” he
said of the suspects. He is also considering hiring a security guard to
watch the store overnight.
