NEWPORT– Milton came in to town on Tuesday and dealt the North Country softball team their eighth straight loss by the score of 7-3.
"Defensively we struggled, we made too many errors which led to runs," said Coach Leslie Dunn, "Offensively it was better, we were hitting the ball, but we were hitting it right at somebody."
Emily Pecue and Katie Ste. Marie each had a hit for the Falcons.
Despite the errors, North Country had a stellar defensive inning in the sixth that included a great snag by Anna Bingham at short, catcher Melody Mayhew gunning down a runner at second, and Mariah Roberts making a fantastic running catch in centerfield. If they can continue to get innings like that, combined with a little more offense, then they can snap this current losing skid they are on.
Champlain Valley is next on the agenda for the Falcons, as they will take the field at 4:30 on Thursday.
