Newport Buying Land In Derby For Water Tower

Local Post Offices Affected By Hour Reduction

September 18, 2014

BOSTON – In an effort to save some post offices from closure, officials from the United States Postal Service have decided to reduce the number of hours the counter is open at those facilities. In some cases, the postal service will keep the lobbies open 24 hours a day so customers can access their post office boxes even if the counter is closed.

Brighton Selectmen Reject PETA Offer For New Sign

It didn’t take long for the Brighton select board to decide Tuesday night they would not take PETA up on an offer for a free radar speed sign. With a quick motion to add an official letter from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization to the agenda, board Chairman Melinda Gervais-Lemoureux said she hadn’t really been prepared for the controversy the issue created.

NCH Joins Statewide Information Sharing Network

NEWPORT CITY – The North Country Hospital medical staff is working this week to get trained on a computer system that will tie the hospital to the other 14 hospitals in the state, plus Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

Derby Zoning Board Tables St. Edward Preschool Application

September 17, 2014

St. Edward Catholic Church wants a permit for up to 100 kids for its preschool and afterschool program. The application was tabled at a Derby Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting Monday evening pending more information.
