NEWPORT– North Country's softball team picked up their second win of the season on Monday, defeating South Burlington 14-0. After being pushed back two days due to weather, the Falcons finally played their home opener, and were dominant against Rebels.
"We played a great game," said Coach Leslie Dunn, "We played well both defensively and offensively."
Good games usually start great pitching, and Kayla Descheneau was no exception. The junior hurler went the distance for North Country, surrendering just two hits, while striking out nine and walking three.
The defense was there behind Descheneau, once again allowing only one error for the second straight game.
Offensively the Falcons had no problem hitting the Rebels pitching. Eleven different players had a hit on Monday, several with multiple hits in the game.
Mariah Roberts went 2-5, scoring three runs and driving in four.
Hilary Manning was 2-4 and also scored three runs while driving in one.
Anna Bingham's hot start continued on Monday with her three hit, two RBI afternoon.
