ORLEANS-Thursday night was senior night at the Don Harter Gymnasium, and the fans in attendance let the Lady Rangers' lone senior Nicole Roy know how much she was appreciated as they showered her with applause in a pre-game ceremony.
However, when things got underway in the first, things were anything but pretty, as both teams struggled to get anything going in terms of their offense.
However, in the second quarter Lake Region's found their offensive stride, and after scoring 49 points in the second and third they were well on their way to a 65-36 win to improve to 10-9 on the year.
"I think the energy on both ends of the floor was head and shoulders above what we have been giving the last couple of games," said LR coach Joe Houston. "On the defensive end, if we didn't get a steal, we were tipping the ball, forcing Hazen to catch it three feet further away from the basket. We would take that energy to the other end and we were attacking and girls were hitting the rim and stepping up and making things happen instead of waiting for things to come to them."
The Lady Rangers Tyrah Urie led all scorers with 17 points.
Lake Region will be back in action on Saturday as the wrap up their season at Lyndon Institute. Tip is slated for 6:00.
