New models of wood furnaces, fireplaces, stoves, and fireplace inserts will have to meet new, stringent air pollution standards under proposed EPA rules. The EPA is addressing pollution caused by wood burning furnaces and stoves for the first time since 1988.
DERBY - The federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed new rules for indoor and outdoor wood burning furnaces. The EPA released the rules in January targeting new wood stoves and furnaces, but took a pass on existing furnaces.
