DANVILLE–The Danville Indians punched across a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth and held off a Ranger rally for a 5-4 win Saturday.
Lake Region got a booming one out seventh inning double from Tyler Breault scoring Kyle Perry, who had drawn a walk to bring the Blue and White to within one run. Breault was called out trying to stretch his clutch single and appeared safe, but the bad angle call from the umpire put a big damper on the LRU rally.
The Rangers had trailed 3-1 before Derik Messier unloaded a long drive over the hedges in left field tying the game at 3. Ranger pitcher Evan Royer took the loss as LRUHS dropped to 4-3 on the season. Danville moved to 2-3 with both wins vs Lake Region.
