CABOT–The UCA boys varsity soccer team hit the road to square off against Cabot Wednesday night. The final score was a 4-1 loss for the Crusaders, but it was a huge success in the growth and gelling of the team.
Though UCA went into the game with no subs against Cabot's 19 man roster, they stayed in the game and kept it close until the very end.
Junior Dale Martel and Freshman Chris DeLaBruere split the net and had 30 saves between them.
The lone Crusader goal was scored by Junior Marc Quirion.
“I was very encouraged by the way the team played together and the effort they gave for 80 minutes with no breaks. Sophomore Paul Saaman led our defense at stopper and gave 110 percent all game. Senior Isaac LaFoe gave an outstanding performance in the mid-field, managing to always be where he was needed with speed, determination and endless endurance,” said Head Coach Alyssa DeLabruere
UCA’s first home game is tonight when they host Canaan at 5:30.
