EAST MONTPELIER– The North Country boys’ and girls’ XC teams traveled to U-32 for a chilly meet on a brisk Wednesday afternoon.
The boys finished 1st out of 6 teams with a great team effort from the top 5 runners, keeping their score down to 28 points with 4 Falcons finishing in the top 6 spots.
NC was led by senior captain Trevor Howell finishing in 2nd place with a time of 18:28 followed in 4th by sophomore Ross DeLaBruere in 18:37. Senior Dave Durivage was 5th (18:49) and junior captain Trevor Roberts on his heels in 6th (18:53). Senior Stephen Bellevance had a strong performance finishing in 12th with a time of 19:09.
On the girls side, the girls team competed against 8 teams and they ran a close 2nd to St Johnsbury (39 pts) with 58 points. North Country was led by senior captain Steph Watson in 4th with a time of 21:29. Four places back was Haley Jo Tetreault (21:55) and in 11th senior Caitlin Smith had a strong race finishing in 22:14. Rounding out the scoring for NC finishing close together were senior Erika Fortin (17th – 22:57) and freshmen Jordan Howell (18th – 22:59).
North Country travels to Lake Region for the Lake Region Relays next Wednesday before the League Meet at St Johnsbury (Oct 22nd).
