CRAFTSBURY – The Craftsbury Academy Lady Chargers picked up a much needed win Tuesday afternoon against the Concord Wildcats.
Morgan Churchill got the scoring going early giving her Wildcats a 1-0. But, the Chargers bounced right back as Iva Wright would score unassisted to tie the game at 1-1. The game would remain in a deadlock until Melanie Sergiev scored unassisted, from 15 yards out, with 10 minutes to go in the contest.
On her goal, Sergiev injured her leg just below the knee and was taken to the hospital; her injury status is currently unknown.
Concord would get a couple decent attempts at a goal, but they wouldn’t fall.
Coach Ashley Maxfield was pleased with the result, but her focus was on her injured player, “Mel took a good hit right under the knee, hopefully it is just a bruise.”
Craftsbury’s record stands at 3-6 on the year and they have 4 games remaining before the playoffs.
“I think we have a good chance of winning the last 4 and having a winning record,” Coach Maxfield also stated.
The Chargers will have a chance to keep their win streak going today with a home game, against the UCA Crusaders. Kick-off will be at 4:00.
