CRAFTSBURY – The Craftsbury Academy Lady Chargers took another step towards securing a potential home playoff game with a 3-2 win Tuesday afternoon against the Whitcomb Hornets. Craftsbury, winners of 3 in a row and 4 out of their last 6, battled Whitcomb to a scoreless draw through the first half. But, Meghan Brown put the Chargers on top after converting a Sarah Dunbar pass for a goal early in the 2nd half. After Whitcomb tied the game at 1, Brown scored her 2nd of the game, thanks to an assist by Meghan Pennock to put the Blue and White of Craftsbury back on top. The Hornets tied the game once again with less than 10 minutes to play, but Senior Hattie Brochu wasn’t going to let the win slip away and with 3 minutes to go in regulation she put her team ahead for good.
The win moves the Lady Chargers to 6-6 on the year, with 1 game to play in the season; which will be this Friday in Whitcomb. They currently sit 9th in the Division 4 playoffs, just 1 spot away from starting the playoffs in Craftsbury. Game time on Friday is set for 4:00.
