Wednesday afternoon’s relays at Lake Region went well for North Country Union HS. First of all, and to the delight of those in competition, the rain held off during the entire race and running conditions were ideal (overcast with temps in the 50s and no wind). The relay style race was set up to have the first of two runners complete a 1.6 mile loop before passing off for the 2nd runner who ran the same loop. Times were combined for the two runners and medals were awarded to the top three teams in the categories of all boy, all girl, & coed relay teams.
For the all boy relay, Ross DeLaBruere & Trevor Roberts took top honors in their category with 1st overall in a combined time of 19:29. Following quickly behind them were the duo of Ben Dillner and Sam Brunette (2nd overall/2nd in all boy relay – 19:55).
In the all girl relay category, first place went to seniors Amber Lampiris-Tremba & Caitlin Smith with a combined time of 23:48. In third for the girl duo division, Laura Smith and Jade Danduand finished in a time of 25:11.
Seniors Dave Durivage and Steph Watson were first team (3rd overall finishing team) in a time of 20:23 in the combined relay. 2nd in this category went to a brother-sister relay team of Trevor & Jordan Howell finishing with a time of 21:08.
Next up for North Country is the Mountain Division League Championships at St Johnsbury on Saturday.
