STOWE–The North Country girls soccer team capped off a very successful regular season with a 2-0 win over Stowe.
The win put this year’s Falcons in elite company in the history of the program, becoming the first team since 1982 to reach double digits in the win column.
“We are very happy with our girls,” said Coach Alexander, “It was a team effort.”
The Falcons got on the board ten minutes into the contest when Cara Worth fed Jaime Kramer who beat Stowe’s Caroline Armbruster to go up 1-0.
The remainder of the half was not as productive as the early going. The team fell back on some bad habits, and Alexander said his team was lucky to get out of the half with the lead.
In the second, the team regrouped, and Noelle Pinard scored the insurance goal, again after the hard work of Worth.
Worth was one of the best players on the field against Stowe on Friday, and her work with Avery Parsons-Grayson did not go unnoticed by her coach.
The 10 wins the team earned guaranteed them a home start to the play-offs this week. The Falcons now wait to see who they will open up the play-offs against.
