November 6, 1976-November 10, 2011
Joshua Dylan Pfenning , aka Pfinny, has passed away at age 35. Josh’s life came to a sudden and tragic end on Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Burlington, VT. Josh was born to Miranda Malcolm and Marc Pfenning on November 6, 1976 in Middlebury, VT. Josh spent most of his childhood between Castleton and Westfield, VT, where he attended elementary school and then moved on to NCUHS. Along the way he made many bonds, always leaving a lasting impact on those he shared his life with. There were no strangers in his life because, to him, everyone was family. Josh had a deep, everlasting love for his entire family. He played a large part in the guidance and upbringing of his siblings. His sacrifices, words of wisdom, and never ending antics will continue to shape their characters and impact their decisions throughout life. Josh had a passion for nature; he loved animals, hiking, camping, disc golf, and any other adventure he could pursue in the great outdoors. Josh was very well versed when it came to literature, and rarely went anywhere without a good book. He was an avid follower of sports, and a lifelong die-hard Yankees fan. In February of 1998, Josh welcomed his darling daughter Cassidy into this world. In his eyes, there was never a prouder moment, or greater achievement, and from that moment on she was the light of his life. Josh is preceded in death by his father Marcus Pfenning, as well as his paternal grandparents Phyllis Barnard and Wilbur Pfenning, and his maternal grandfather William Malcolm. He is survived by his mother Miranda Malcolm, maternal grandmother Mary Ann Touchette, his beloved daughter Cassidy, his siblings: Samantha Norman, Rachel Greeno, Willow Lafferty, Forrest Pfenning, Ian Kyhill, Iris Smith and Taylor Kyhill, his step-parents: Steven and Teresa Kyhill, Shelly Pfenning, and Bob Rockwell. He is also survived by his close aunts and uncles Sue and Roger Scott, Les Pfenning, and Vicky Lucier, as well as many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, 6 nephews and of course his innumerable friends. A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in Burlington, VT. Attendants are encouraged to bring stories and photos to share. In lieu of flowers, please send any monetary donations to Burlington’s AA District 2, P.O. Box 1212, Burlington, VT 05402.
