STOWE–The North Country nordic teams headed to the Mount Mansfield Resort Nordic Center in Stowe on Friday.
Christina Cotnoir was in attendance and said that, "The weather was mild and the atmosphere was festive! The race went quickly due to the mass starts. It was fun to watch as the skiers started en mass, furiously double-poling to gain a good position on the narrow trail which wound into the woods. The next time the skiers appeared was on the top of a hill. The spectators cheered all the skiers as they whizzed past us down the hill. Many spectacular crashes kept it exciting."
The girls had the better of the time in Stowe, as they finished in second place overall with a team score of 60.
Haley Jo Tetreault was the top skier for the Falcons, coming in ninth place with a time of 18:19.7. The entire girls team finished in the top twenty, as Tetreault was followed by Lindsey Cotnoir in 16th, Stephanie Watson in 17th, and Erika Fortin in 18th.
For the boys, they came in 7th place with a team score of 147.
Leading the way for the boys was Brian DeLaBruere in 15th place with a time of 15:56.2. The rest of the boys, Chris Meredith, Jonathan Trembley, and Trevor Howell came in back-to-back-to-back, taking the 43-45th spots.
Next up is the Lyndon Institute Carnival this Friday, and with a potential storm brewing, there should be plenty of fresh snow for the racers to ski on
