WESTMORE–It was cold and bitter day at the races for the North Country Nordic teams on Saturday. Moved from Friday due to conditions, the teams competed in the Lyndon Institute Carnival's Free Technique race. Despite being shorthanded due to All-State music try-outs and illness, it was the Falcon girls having another strong day, taking home second place at the event while the boys placed fifth.
A trio of seniors led the way for North Country. Erika Fortin was the top finisher, taking home seventh place, followed up by Steph Watson in eleventh and Lindsay Cotnoir in twelfth. Haley Jo Tetreault took fifteenth followed by Jade Dandurand in twenty-fourth.
Brian DeLaBruere again paced the North Country boys, coming in twenty-fourth overall. The rest of the Falcon boys were all within twelve places of Brian with Jon Trembley in twenty-seventh, Brad Dopp in thirty-first, Trevor Howell in thirty-second, and Alexander Charboneau in thirty-sixth.
North Country's lone J/V racer, Sam Brunette, took home seventh.
The Mount Mansfield Techniques Pursuit is next on the agenda for the team, and they will head over to Jericho to compete in the event on Friday.
Race time is 4:00.
