MONTPELIER–NCU’s trip to U-32 was highlighted by the boys’ first place finish at the event.
Barry Shelton, Riley Simoneau and Jason Webster all threw over 40’ to sweep the shot put.
Simoneau, Shelton, Josh Brien and Webster finished 2 – 5 in the discus.
Colton White, after a two week exchange trip to Germany and a starring role in the IMusical, returned to the team, taking 2nd in the javelin. He hopes to return to the form that qualified him for the New England championships last year.
Haley Jo Tetreault made another major step towards the school record and the upcoming Burlington Invitational on Saturday, by winning the 1500 against tough competition. She lowered her time to a personal best of 5:03.
Tetreault also led the girls’ 4 X 400 team of Lindsay Cotnoir, Avery Parsons-Grayson and freshman Briana Bonnell to second place. Avery had earlier run to a strong second place finish in the 800 meter run.
Cotnoir had a busy day, as she was also on the 4 X 100 team that finished third, the 4 X 800 team (Stephanie Watson, Cara Worth and Parsons-Grayson) that finished first and she added a third in the 300 meter hurdles
She was edged out by Amber Lampiris-Tremba who took 2nd.
Alex Cotnoir anchored the boys’ 4 X 100 team (Dylan Columbia, Josh Brien and freshman Connor Hogan) to a win. Alex posted a 4:52 in the 1500 meter run, and also ran the last leg of the winning 4 X 800 team (Ross Delabreure, Patrick Tetreault and Andrew Franklin.)
Another freshman, Sam Brunette, had his best day of the season with a 4:53, an 18 second improvement. Brunette also placed 4th in the 3000 meter run and he was followed closely by Ben Dilner, who had his personal best in the event.
Brien had his first win of the season in the 100 meter dash, which could be a turning point in the season for Josh.
Hogan also was impressive in charging to a third place in the 400 meter run (57.2).
Aaron Brown continued to improve with a 4th in the 110 meter hurdles. Jade Danderand was 6th in the 200 meter dash.
Watson and Caitlin Smith finished 3rd and 4th in the 3000 meter run
