This past week the North Country girls’ golf team competed in two tournaments, hosting their own on Monday the 14th, and traveling to St. Albans on Thursday the 17th.
Completing at the NC Invitational were Paige Gagnon, Bailey Walker and Eilish Muir.
“While the team did not finish first, it did not finish last either,” said coach Brian Hampton.
The Newport Country Club and its staff do a great job in providing a site for this oldest girls golf tournament in the state. And, the big lesson for Eilish, again according to coach Hampton, is that the “pushy thing” is actually called a pull cart.
You learn something new everyday.
At Champlain Country Club in St. Albans, the team was represented again by Bailey and Allison Greenwood.
Bailey placed second as an individual, and Allison had what she called the “best shot in her life”, and it went like this.
“On hole three I landed in the sand trap, right under the lip. There was a small hill between my ball and the green. I swung, hit the ball, scooping it up out of the sand and landing on the green, about a foot from the hole.”
While Bailey scored well and enjoyed the great day at Champlain, she said “there are definitely some things I need to work on before the next tournament
