BURLINGTON — Hundreds of athletes from across the state will converge at the University of Vermont this weekend for the Special Olympics Vermont Summer Games.
Special Olympic games provide a competitive sporting atmosphere in a fun and friendly atmosphere for individuals with disabilities. Games will include aquatics, track and field, bocce, and softball. Events start this morning and continue through Sunday.
Opening ceremonies included law enforcement officers and other public safety officials carrying the the "Flame of Hope" from all four corners of the state.
