On a beautiful sunshiny baseball Sunday afternoon in Littleton, NH, the Orleans County 12-U Thunder baseball team started their season with a convincing 15-3 victory over the Littleton NH 12-U All-Star team.
There were a lot of stars in this game with Parker Brown, T.J. Santaw, Hunter Marsh, Liam Kennedy and Derrick Breault on the mound.
The quintet gave up a mere 3 runs on 5 hits. There were a lot of great defensive plays in the game along with a lot of offense.
Along with the strong pitching and solid defense, several members of the Thunder had a productive day at the plate.
Dylan Gunn had 2 hits, Caleb Lanoue and Hunter Marsh came through with 3 hits, as did Derrick Breault, and T. J. Santaw getting 4 hits 3 RBI’s and scoring 4 runs.
Mitchell Gonyaw topped it off with 4 hits, 2 runs scored and 5 RBI’s.
While the score was a bit lopsided, the contest was a very good chance to get the boys prepared for the upcoming tournament this weekend in Plymouth NH.
They also had to play this game without 2 of their pitchers, Cole Azur, and Ryan Descheneau.
This team, like the 14-U Lightning team, has a lot of depth in their line-up.
Baseball in Orleans County should be in good shape for a long time to come. Upcoming games for the Thunder include: A tournament this weekend (in Plymouth, NH) June 15th to June 17th, another tournament in Drummondville, Q.C. – June 24th- 26th as well as a home town tourney in Newport sometime in August. Stay tuned for more information that one as it becomes available
