Eunice R. (Bowen) Konieczny, 87, of Live Oak, FL passed away peacefully on August 4, 2012. She was born March 23, 1925 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, and was the oldest child of Fred H. and Asenath Bowen.
She lived in Vermont for 21 years and was educated in Newport Center Public Schools where she graduated in 1934. After graduation she was employed by the Farm Labor office of the Orleans County Extension Service. Eunice was also active in 4-H Club work. In 1946 Eunice moved to Northampton, Massachusetts where she was employed by the Hampshire County Extension Service. There she met her husband of 47 years, Edward G. Konieczny. They were blessed with four children: Ann Marie Konieczny, Louise Margaret Mahoney, Janice Ruth Doubleday, and Edward S. Konieczny, and lived in Hadley, MA all their married years.
Eunice was employed by UMASS/AMHERT for nearly 26 years by the Student Activities Office where she retired in 1985. She loved flower gardening, handicrafts and did extensive traveling. She was an active 4-H leader for many years and was also active in the Hadley PTA, Saint Johns Ladies Guild, and Hadley Mothers Club. She spent her later years in Florida, each summer visiting family and friends in New England. She is survived by her sisters: Lois and Nelda; brother: Glenn; her four children and their families; and enjoyed her 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
