OXBOW–Another day, another three points for Lake Region's Tyrah Urie, as the sophomore had two goals and an assist to help lead the Lady Rangers past Oxbow Olympians 3-0.
"I am happy with our overall team effort, although I would like to see a little more consistency," said head coach Brad Urie.
Nine minutes into the game LRU got on the board when Urie converted a direct kick by Ashley Locke for what would turn out to be the game-winning goal.
With 13:00 left in the half, Meghan Menard sent a beautiful through-ball to Urie where she weaved her way through a cluster of Olympians and broke away for the score.
"It was a real nice goal," said Urie. “She got away from four defenders, went one-on-one with the keeper and just buried it."
With just ten seconds left on the clock, the Lady Rangers struck for the final time as Drew Neal took a feed from Urie in front of Oxbow's net and knocked home her first of the season.
Urie was really pleased with his sweeper Sarah Burnham's play, as well as that of Corrina Cota and a returning Sabrina Roberge.
"Sarah played extremely well, controlling the middle and not allowing the offense in, Corrina played very well, and we are glad to have Sabrina back as she’s a tough player."
Karamaye Heyman-Jones was called up for the game, and Urie believes she will be a name that Ranger Country should get used to really quickly.
Now the (3-0) Lady Rangers will take on the Spartans when they travel to Winooski this Friday for a 4:00 showdown
