ORLEANS–Anthony Wright tallied twice, and Lake Region rolled to a 5-2 victory over Lyndon Institute Wednesday night.
The Rangers (3-1) had their biggest outburst of the season, knocking in a trio of goals in the first 15 minutes of play against the now Division I Vikings.
Junior Clint Provoncha (one assist) and senior Shaquille Urie (two assists) each had a goal, while junior Josh Tibault found the net on a helper from Carl Oberg.
"It wasn't the best played match by us," said head coach Tom Evans. "I'm happy, of course, with the result, but not with our caliber of play."
Jack Brown and Robbie Lemnah scored for the winless Vikings, who found the net once in each half.
"We'll have a lot to work on if we're going to contend with the top teams in our division," said Evans.
"If we can learn to play quicker and communicate before Saturday's game, we'll contend. A team with this kind of experience should be much more disciplined out there."
Lake Region has a chance to pick up their level of play this weekend against an Enosburg team that has given the Rangers fits in recent years. The home match begins at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Junior varsity: Five freshman scored as Lake Region knocked off Lyndon in junior varsity competition. Ethan Willey, Mitchell Roy, Zach Royer, Noah Racine and Austin Roberge contributed goals in the 5-0 victory
